What do you use for the hard sanding blocks used for sanding w/o variations in depth. hardwoods? ebony etc.? 3/4" baltic birch plywood? I have seen mention of plastic? |

I use birch ply, MDF, or hardwood scraps. Sometimes I laminate one surface with thin cork for just a little give. Al |

I use a hard rubber sanding block, flat on the bottom with an arched top that fits in the hand nicely. Mike |

I use a cut off from an old stair ramp, it's rounded nice on the top for the comfort of the hand and flat at the bottom. Got a bolt and wing nut a la Lee Valley, looks a lot like theirs, check here because i don't have a pic of mine ![]() http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=20184&cat=1,42 500,42523&ap=1 |

I use Acrylic, some with thin cork on one side. My latest addition for leveling necks and fingerboards is the rear part of an old #7 Stanley plane. Louis |

I have blocks made from all kinds of stuff. I probably reach for my little corian blocks most often though. These are just little different sized pieces of corian that have sticky back paper on then and are really handy for getting into those odd places I am always running into. |
